The caller allegedly identified themselves as Sheriff Devan and stated that the victim had to “resolve an issue or they would be subject to arrest.”
When the caller was questioned further they hung up. The phone numbers identified were 845-259-5869 and 845-658-0025, neither of which belong to the Sheriff’s Office.
Three complaints have been reported so far, and the called is said to have a heavy southern accent.
Anyone who has received similar calls is urged to contact the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office at (845) 638-5401), and under no circumstances should you send any form of payment to the caller.
